There are various community organizations Fireweed Acupuncture has supported, including:
Iowa Trans Mutual Aid Fund - helps trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse Iowans access gender-affirming care.
Iowa Abortion Access Fund - helps increase access to abortion for Iowa and Quad Cities residents.
Beaverdale Neighborhood Association’s Beaverdale Big Event
Monsoon Asians & Pacific Islanders in Solidarity - works to end gender-based violence and build healthy communities

Community Events
I offer classes and events in the community - sign up for the clinic newsletter to stay up to date! Some events we’ve had in the past include free Book Trades, qi gong classes, yoga+acupuncture events, and more!
Fireweed Acupuncture is also available for community events! Some examples of possible activities are ear seed clinics and wellness classes with an emphasis on Chinese medicine practices (such as seasonal wellness). If you have an event that you’re interested in collaborating on, contact me!
Reducing Waste
Acupuncture is, unfortunately, not always very environmentally friendly! Certain aspects of running a clinic are necessary for safety, such as using high-grade cleaning supplies and correctly disposing of biohazard waste (like needles!).
Some methods to reduce waste in the clinic space include relying on electronic patient records and forms, using the patient portal to provide electronic versions of clinic handouts, using email/text and avoiding mail wherever possible, using recyclable paper cups for tea and other drinks in the clinic, using paper products that are made up of recycled content wherever possible, and more.
